Support Supervision Development

Reaching out and knowing someone is there

Support

Counselling can be an isolating role because although we may be busy with clients we all need the opportunity to talk with colleagues and peers. Supervision offers an opportunity to be supported by another professional in the field in a trusting and safe environment

Supervision is about learning together

supervision.

A collaborative approach to supervision offers the possibility of reflecting on the quality of service provided to clients and to encourage self - reflection and self challenge. How effective this is can be dependent upon the strength of the supervisory relationship which must be based upon mutual trust and respect

We all learn and develop in a different way

development

The purpose of reflection in supervision is to challenge ourselves and to push ourselves to continuously improve. Improvement most often takes place by looking more closely at where something may not have gone as planned, questioning why, and putting that reflection to use in how we change things for next time.
